My take on the theme “Lovely, Lovely Winter” happens to focus on the not-so-lovely aspects of Winter. Although Winter is a season full of fun and beauty, for lots of people at times Winter can be a real mood killer to say the least.

Beverley decorates hard shelled gourds with pyrography (wood burning) and works with leather, metal, fibres and wood. Beverley graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1969 and won 2 scholarships to travel in Europe in 1970, visiting other artisans in various countries. Together they started Williams Design Studio in Jan. 1974.

While playing with tempera paints, Markus displayed to his parents a raw, natural ability for expressing himself through art—a talent deeply-rooted on both sides of his family. These creative inspirations would lead him to showcase his work at 9 years of age in the “Young at Art” section of the Kawartha Arts Festival.
