Words While We Wait - Day 6

Words While We Wait from Lindsay, Ontario

JONI MITCHELL and CAROLE KING

Poet: Colleen Irwin
Artist: Anders Widjedal

Just me and Joni singing
“You don’t know what you got
’til it’s gone”.
Isn’t that the truth,
At least there is still a Sun

I’m watching a film.
They’re not wearing masks.
Don’t get too close I whisper.
Too late - he kissed her.

I’m smiling at my Mother
through a pain, not pane of glass.
Our hands firmly pressed against it.
The space between so vast.

The garden is my sanctuary.
My friends are bugs and birds.
Covid doesn’t exist here.
There Is No Such Word.

I’m laying here with Covid
So many things undone,
But I’m going to fight like hell.
No way my time is done.

Carole King is singing
“It would be so nice
to see your face at my door”
Yes, everything seems so far away,
But I’m gonna fight like hell
To see another Day.
