Volunteer with Kawartha Art Gallery

'Friends of the Gallery' is a volunteer program dedicated to supporting our vibrant, community-oriented gallery. 

This program aims to engage community members by inviting them to join committees that both support the Gallery's operations while fostering art appreciation and cultural enrichment within our community.

The Gallery is committed to ensuring that each volunteer enjoys a fulfilling and rewarding experience by providing volunteer opportunities that not only strengthen connections within the local arts community, but also provide personal fulfillment and expand social networks through active engagement.

As a Gallery Volunteer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of the Gallery's activities, from educational programs to community events and receptions.  

After submitting your application Gallery staff will connect with you to review your application and discuss your volunteer role further.

Friends of the Gallery Volunteer Opportunities

Programming Assistants                                         

  • Assist the Programmer and/or instructor(s) with various art programming activities

  • Help with set-up and clean-up for programs. 

  • Programming Assistants require a criminal record and vulnerable sector check

  • Adult and Youth Volunteers are welcome to apply

Docents (Tour guides)

  • Docents engage audiences in group settings and on an one-on-one basis

  • Knowledge of the exhibits is required to showcase Gallery  exhibits and promote upcoming gallery events effectively

  • Must be an Adult Volunteer to apply

  • Training is provided

Special Events Committee - Planning

  • Working with Gallery Board and Staff, Special Events Committee members work to implement an annual schedule of fundraising events for the Gallery

  • Must be an Adult Volunteer to apply

Special Event Committee – Support

  • Assist with event set up and break down 

  • Adult and Youth Volunteers are welcome to apply
