Words While We Wait - Day 4

Words While We Wait from Lindsay, Ontario

THE PENDULUM

Poet: Laura Fox
Artist: Lesley Drummond

The pendulum swings...
Tick tock, tick tock.
Day after day..
Minute by minute..
Counting the time..
Marking it’s place in history.

This uneasy time...
These unpredictable days...
Tick tock.. tick tock..
Never to repeated,
Unable to be redone.

History in the making
Every breath
Every thought
Preserve it,
keep it safe..
Ready to recall..

This is the time for peace..
These are the days of stillness
The days of staying safe
Protected and sheltered in our homes.

The world is fearfully resting..
And the Universe is holding it’s breath
As “normal” is gearing up for it’s return..

Tick Tock, Tick Tock..
Minute by minute
Hour by Hour ..
keeping the pace..
Marking our survival...

And then...
Gong, Gong, Gong....
The clock announces another hour
We are still safe..
we are still strong...

Tick Tock.
Tick Tock
A rhythm that grows louder in the silence..
Like the beating of our hearts
As we wait for the return.

Tick Tock...
Tick Tock...
Time to Reflect..
Time to Remember....
