MEET ANDERS WIDJEDAL

I have been active in the arts community since I moved to Lindsay from Sweden.

I have taught art, photography and media at LCVI and I. E. Weldon, and I have been involved with the Kawartha Arts Network since its inception.

I like to explore a wide variety of mediums and techniques. I often work through several mediums and techniques until I find the expression that matches my concept.

My next challenge is to learn how to paint digitally and I am looking forward to exploring the medium and the new possibilities.

ARTIST STATEMENT

While in self isolation I decided to explore a variety of ideas and mediums.
I had several projects on the go at the same time and it was interesting to see how they fed each other, even though the approaches were quite different. (This was also a good way to keep me entertained).
Some of those ideas can be seen in the exhibit Recycle 100 held by the Kawartha Art Gallery.
The show contained oil pastel still lifes of everyday objects with a focus on composition and use of colour.
That work led to a deeper exploration into colour, shape and placement of objects.
I also wanted to explore the idea of blur. The work became more abstract and I went digital to get the effect and contrast I was looking for.
Digital exploration and digital painting have become a complement to my traditional drawing and painting practice.
I decided to show three pieces from that exploration.
