ARTIST STATEMENT
As an avid “people watcher” throughout my life. My intention is to capture through gesture, simplified forms of movement reflecting the unspoken ways in which we communicate.
I am attracted to clay, and how during the process of making work, clay’s plasticity “talks back”. These fluid conversations between the clay and myself often lead to the unexplored forms and meanings, not always apparent even to me at the onset of work on a piece.
My hope is the viewer will engage with the clay figure in an open narrative offering the possibility of exchanging “whispered secrets”, each having the opportunity of entering into the other’s life stories.
