Artist Statement: My painting describes an airplane being sucked into a black hole. The sky is very gray and near the black hole the sky is almost black. The aircraft is white with red and green lights. Then we have a runway that disappears on the horizon where the water breaks off. On each side of the runway there are two lawns to represent dead grass. Then I discovered that I had a gray cloud that I thought was a bit boring. Then I also saw that there was not much heat in the picture, so then I fixed some heat and red paint in the picture in the cloud itself. At first I was going to paint an airplane that was about to land, but I realized pretty quickly that the airplane was upside down. I changed quite quickly and chose to aim the plane a little obliquely so that it looked like the plane was sucked into a black hole which I later added to the picture. My inspiration was a picture I found online that was taken on a plane that landed but which I then remade a bit.

Artist Statement: I have painted a coastal landscape. I imagined the picture in my head and just followed the idea. I have used acrylic paint. I mixed colours over and over again until I had the right colour.
