My work is about mental health and addictions. A lot of youth struggle with mental health and addictions. I've known and know a lot of people who struggle. I wanted to show how mental health can have an effect on addiction by adding in the pills, ‘evil’ smiles, and quotes behind the girl, as well as the darkness around the corners. A lot of youth and adults will turn to drugs or hard drugs to cope with their mental illness if they cannot get help. Lots of people are unable to get help because of the cost or because they don't even know they have mental health issues. Drugs can also be easier to obtain then therapy, mental hospitals etc. Some people also don't want to believe they have a mental health problem.
