ARCTIC ALERT by RoseMarie Condon

I’ve had the enormous pleasure of visiting the Canadian High Arctic with the Royal Canadian Coast Guard and aboard the Akademik Ioffe a scientific vessel. In retracing some of my steps I was acutely aware that glaciers I explored on my first voyage had dramatically receded. August on Beechey Island was balmy. There is no question we need to take decisive action where global warming is concerned. I have expressed my concern through a number of my paintings over the years. “Arctic Alert” is my most pointed statement to date. Time is of the essence. We must act.
