Featuring a curated selection of artworks by Canadian artist York Wilson
EXHIBITION STATEMENT
Unceded Land is a featured exhibit of artwork by Canadian artist York Wilson. York's exhibited work captures and preserves the isolated and untouched Canadian landscapes and Indigenous cultures that have continued to become scarce in modern times.
The effects of structural colonialism have led to a larger conversation on the recognition and acknowledgement of Unceded Land. The exhibit explores this history through the people and places that have, and continue to be, impacted by Treaty Rights and land claims.
The artwork displayed within the Unceded Land exhibit was curated from a collection of work received through the York Wilson Foundation for the Visual Arts in 2015.
Unceded Land was a curated exhibit by LCVI co-op student Emily Strange. The exhibit will be featured at Kawartha Art Gallery from October 24th to December 15th, 2023.
