Welcome to Kawartha Art Gallery’s first-ever Pop-Up Exhibit!
From April 15 to April 22, 2020, The Travelling Blue Dress Exhibit from April 2018, returns to the Gallery for an encore exhibit of outtakes and escapades not previously shown.
A few words from Dianne Lister about her exhibit…
In 2016 I started a journey to capture remote landscapes from a female viewpoint. I found a $7.00 dress at Value Village and, using the technique of intervention, took my cameras and dress travelling to Costa Rica, Outer Hebrides, Prince Edward Island, Vancouver Island, and back to the Kawarthas. The dress became a lodestar, a shield, a mirror. The images drew different reactions from viewers. First exhibited at the Kawartha Art Gallery in 2018, Susan Taylor created a way for the audience to participate in the narrative. Fifty paper blue dresses were pinned beside the images capturing hand-written comments. The exhibition changed from a private creation to a project richly embroidered with the memories and stories of others.
Each day for the next week the Gallery will share two of Dianne’s images.
Kawartha Art Gallery invites you to pick an image that you like and post in comments your thoughts, memories and stories on Dianne’s Travelling Blue Dress images.
Post as many times as you would like. We would love to hear your creativity!
