ABOUT THE CURATOR
The Fresh Air exhibition is curated by Rose Anderson-Duvall, the Collections Assistant at Kawartha Art Gallery in Lindsay Ontario.
Rose is a grade 12 student attending I.E. Weldon Secondary School. Though her skill and interests lie mainly within the realm of science, Rose has always had a passion for any form of artistic expression, especially visual arts. She will be attending the University of Ottawa in September, starting a Biopharmaceutical Sciences degree in the French Immersion stream.
ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
With the nice weather of summer long past and the country in the throes of a second wave of the Covid-19 virus, we’ve all been spending a lot more time indoors.
With the combination of working from home and online school, I have spent more hours staring at a computer screen these past few months than in all of 2019
I would venture a guess that a lot of people feel much the same.
Whereas past winters have been spent travelling to ski lodges, exploring trails in other parts of the province or escaping to a sunny beach for a vacation, these are not safe options for 2021.
I think that, at almost a year into a pandemic, everyone from England to right here in Kawartha Lakes, is getting a bit of cabin fever.
As a way to assuage some of the restlessness that comes from being stuck inside for months on end, this exhibit comprises some breathtaking landscape artwork from within the Gallery's Permanent Collection.
It is my hope, that this exhibit will remind you that, one day, sooner rather than later, we will all be able to take a breath of fresh air again.
For now, I invite you to take a look at some scenery that isn’t found out your front window, take a deep breath, and let your mind escape your house for a little while.
