This JURIED exhibition is open to all artists’ ages 13 to 18 years in the Kawartha Lakes. The PURPOSE of the exhibit is to educate the public and display LGBTQ+ community struggles and accomplishments through art. Kawartha Art Gallery asks that youth create art pieces in any medium that focuses on LGBTQ+ topics and are encouraged to include a colour or colours from the pride flag to fit the theme of the exhibit.

Artwork will be juried based on the strength of the MESSAGE behind the piece.



  • Student artists ages 13 to 18 years of age are eligible to apply
  • Works must be original and made by the artist entering the exhibit
  • Pieces of various sizes will be eligible, however if a piece is too large in proportion to the size of the gallery, the piece will be deemed ineligible


  • Artists may submit a maximum of two pieces of work
  • Mediums include: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media and photography


  • All entries must be prepared for display and ready to hang
  • Artwork must be clearly identified by completing the required entry label


  • By submitting, the artist agrees to the reproduction of their artwork for promotion and marketing purposes by the Kawartha Art Gallery
  • The gallery is in charge of all aspects of the overall exhibit
  • Kawartha Art Gallery will assume responsibility for loss or damage through theft, fire or vandalism from May 25th, 2019delivery date untilJune 22, 2019. Pieces picked up late will accrue a charge of $35 per week for insurance
  • No accepted work may be removed from the Gallery prior to the end of the exhibition


  • Artists will be advised of the Juror’s decision. No phone inquiries please
  • Any work that does not conform to these conditions will not be placed before the Juror
