The BEE Cause Program

Kawartha Art Gallery & Kawartha Lakes Public Library – Lindsay Branch



The city of Kawartha Lakes is officially recognized as a Bee City by Bee City Canada by supporting healthy pollinator populations to preserve and create pollinator habitat and encourages community engagement.

What is the ‘BEE…Cause’ program?

It is a partnership program between Kawartha Art Gallery and the Lindsay Branch Library to provide an educational program for elementary students about the need for bee’s and how to help them. The program will take place in Kawartha Art Gallery.


Class Visit Information:

National Pollinator Week is June 19 to 25 and the program will be held on the following dates:

  • June 5, June 7
  • June 12, June 14
  • June 19, June 21
  • June 26, June 28

Program outline:

  9:30am –   9:45am:   Welcome and introduction to the program

  9:45am – 10:05am:   Education with visuals and fun facts

10:05am – 10:30am:   Literature read by Lindsay Library staff

10:30am – 11:45am:   Art project


A maximum of 25 students per class visit is in place for this program.

Admission fee: $4.00 per student

Teachers will be invoiced at the time of their class visit for the number of attending students **

Group Supervision:

For safety and security, a minimum number of adult supervisors are required to accompany each school group.

The required adult to student ratio is:

JK to Grade 3 – 1 adult to every 5 students
Grades 4 to 6 – 1 adult to every 8 students
Grades 7 to 8 – 1 adult to every 10 students

Teachers/adult supervisors are required to stay with their groups for the duration of the visit. Appropriate student behaviour is the sole responsibility of the teacher/adult supervisors.

** There is no charge for the required number of adult supervisors. Additional adults will be charged the student rate.
